Shopdropping.net
The load time / initial functions still take too long - but I’m getting close to a complete overhaul of one of my oldest personal sites.
Version 3.0 Preview => Shopdropping.net
An oldie is getting a facelift
Shopdropping.net is being updated in a major way very soon. For now, a mostly finished WP 3.1-based blog update can be seen at: http://blog.shopdropping.net/

New Rails Project
Baste on a True Story is still in “beta” mode, but we’re getting close. View my first Rails/RefineryCMS project built for a client here.
Heroku
After a surprisingly gentle initial learning curve, I ran into a few bumps in the road learning the Rails/Git/Heroku based system for developing websites.
But now we’re back in business riding the rails at:

RefineryCMS + Rails
So with a few bumps in the road + no real Ruby or Rails experience I translated almost all of propercursive.com from hand-written PHP to the #refineryCMS in roughly 2 hours. Great platform! I hit a few snags in the road that are specific to my lack of knowledge of the language - is it just me or is the contact form setup in rails insanely hard to customize/figure out?

JQuery UI "ThemeRoller"
Been playing around with ”ThemeRoller” for Jquery UI at work to develop a skinnable “dashboard” style app to supplement the main software we offer. JQuery UI + ThemeRoller = tons of Jquery ‘slickness’ right out of the box.

All your base are belong to us...
I recently switched to a new wireless carrier (Credo Mobile, which has been amazing so far in terms of price and customer service) in the midst of developing a series of mobile templates for a New Orleans-based news portal. I’ve been testing the site for iPhone, Blackberry, and Android. (Nokia or WinMo may become relevant in the USA again, but my client and I decided to handle this project...

Been insanely busy with multiple client projects, updating one of my personal sites, working on a new pet project, + Mary and I are starting to plan the wedding!
Links and updates coming soonish.
JQuery vs MooTools
I know it may be bad form to load both on the same site, but until I commit to studying one more than the other I’m going to continue using J Query and MooTools at propercursive.com. My own site will be the sandbox for my other projects. (For the coding purists, I’m just using one or the other for client sites. ;)
Night of Joy site is very close to launch + just started on a site for another NYC/Brooklyn-based business. Details soon.
Site preview for new Brooklyn bar
View the unfinished preview at www.thedoveparlour.com/noj/
So…this site isn’t even “live” yet, but I’m excited about it…and the business is owned by two of my favorite people. The bar is called “Night of Joy”. I haven’t had a chance to visit Brooklyn since it opened, but I’m sure it is amazing and the photos I’ve seen are...

using swfobject 2
Enables flash alternative image object for iphone and ipad.
The site is fully iPhone/iPad compatible now. Using ajax, jquery + swfobject 2, non-flash enabled users will see a static logo as the header. Otherwise, everything including the animated drop down menus and twitter feed works completely with the iPhone browser.
Proper Cursive beta launched!
Additional Updates/Pages Soon
Fixed vs fluid vs elastic layout?
After testing, tweeking, retesting, etc. I think I’ve come up with a good “elastic” layout that fits what I’m aiming for with Proper Cursive. The internal elements like text and boxes are fluid while I created a fixed container for the larger layout. Still tweeking though.
Updating functionality...
Adding functionality to the search engine, finishing final pages, and adding printable resume.
Links, twitter feed etc.
Added multiple pages, featured projects, auto twitter feed, mailing list, contact form etc.
Design & programming underway.
Building Proper Cursive website using the amazing FLUID 960 GRID sytem by Stephen Bau. Aiming for a Monday, April 19th launch. We’ll see.
